报告题目:Quantum tomography and quantum entanglement

Abstract:In this seminar, I will basically talk about two aspects in quantum information theory, namely, quantum tomography and quantum entanglement. Firstly, I will introduce the concept of error regions, which is used in quantum state tomography to quantify errors. This idea is then generalized to construct error intervals for properties of the quantum state. Moreover, numerical procedures are explored to tackle the computational problems in these constructions. Secondly, I will show a superfast maximum-likelihood estimation strategy for quantum tomography. This strategy is then extended to do convex optimisation over various entanglement classes. In the end, some related ongoing work will be presented.

简历:Dr. Jiangwei Shang received his B.Sc. with First Class Honours in Physics and Mathematics (Minor) in 2010 at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he was awarded a full 4-year undergraduate scholarship by the government of Singapore. Being granted an exchange award, he also studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara for half a year in 2008. He then obtained his Ph.D. in Physics in 2014 from the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) at NUS. After working as a Research Fellow at CQT, he is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Siegen, Germany. Dr. Shang’s research concerns many aspects in quantum information and computation, focusing especially on quantum tomography and quantum entanglement.
